Acrylic Floor Tennis Court Construction

Acrylic Floor Tennis Courts are built according to the standards set by the International Tennis Federation (ITF). On request, tennis courts can be built in smaller sizes for amateur use. Turnkey tennis courts are built with infrastructure, iron works, wire mesh, lighting, on-site construction of a cast-iron floor, and tennis net installation. Two different types of flooring are used in the construction of acrylic tennis courts:

1.Acrylic Floor 2.Cushion Acrylic Floor

Construction stages are similar in both types of soil. Cushion Acrylic Floor systems have an extra layer called “cushion”. Cushion is a type of floor covered with acrylic resin and various synthetic ingredients, specially designed for the construction of sports floors.

Phase 1: Infrastructure Works

  • Excavation: Following the selection of the court area leveling, that is, leveling works are done. Then, the foundation is laid for the perimeter beam pattern that will surround the court.
  • Perimeter Beam Concrete: For the beam, which will provide the fence floor support, a mesh skeleton is installed with 8 and 12 Q iron bars.
  • Anchorage: In order to connect the main poles of the fences that will surround the court, 3” anchor pipes are placed on the iron frame of the beam at regular intervals.
  • Beam Concreting: The beam is concreted and left to dry.
  • Field Filling: In order for the acrylic floor to settle on the floor homogeneously, the court is covered with 15 cm gravel and plant mix filling, a roller is passed over it, and this filling is thoroughly crushed.
  • Asphalting: The first asphalt layer is poured on the fill with a thickness of at least 5 cm, crushed by means of a roller, and compacted well. Finally, a 5 cm thick, finely granulated asphalt layer specially produced for sports fields is laid and a roller is passed over it once again to ensure that all layers are well compacted.

Stage 2: Iron Pole and Wire Mesh Works

  • Vertical pole pipes are welded to the anchor pipes placed on the line. On top of these pipes, upper, middle, and horizontal pipes are attached as support pipes. Afterward, reinforcement is applied to these pipes.
  • Vertical poles with ladders are erected on the long sides to meet the lighting needs of the court. The lighting system work is completed by placing metal Halide projectors with a capacity of 400 W on these poles and by installing the appropriate electrical installations and transmitting energy.
  • 1 hinged door is made in order to enter and exit the court. According to the standards, a net rod is sewn to each other at the appropriate points of the court. Then, after the acrylic coating work, tennis nets are stretched to these irons.
  • 4×4 cm mesh, dipped galvanized and PVC coated wire mesh is stretched to the poles around the court, and the whole court is fenced. These fences are also reinforced with steel ropes connected to the poles by means of terminals.

3. Stage: Acrylic Floor Application

  • The asphalt floor, which was poured onto the floor and crushed with rollers before, is thoroughly cleaned using pressurized air and water. After the cleaning process, the first layer of filling material (Acrylic Resurfacer) is applied.
  • On top of that, if Cushion Acrylic System is requested, Cushion layer is laid in 2 layers. The floor covering processes of the tennis court are completed by applying acrylic color layers (Acrylic Procoat) in 2 layers on this cushion layer (if Cushion Acrylic System is not requested directly on the acrylic coating).
  • The court becomes ready for use after the building processes are completed.
